r_bowdidge Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 First let me say Hi to everyone! Im a complete novice when it comes to carb set up and im in desperate need of some help and advice! My 260z is a late european model with the "73 Hitachi SU Flat-Top" style carbs. I need some help on correctly setting them up as at the minute its running like a dog. If anyone can provide a guide or any help what so ever i would be very appreciated! Thanks Everyone! Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Don't even bother with them. There ni-on un-tuneable. It may be difficult for you in the UK, but try & find a set of 240Z 'round top' SU's (bolt-on, no mods necessary). If you cant find any, try adapting some Jaguar or Volvo ones. Good luck. Quote
zedrally Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Aw gee you all knew I'd bite..... First off, welcome to the forum thats more dedicated to right hookers..... To answer your question, they can be repaired/restored. What you need is the FSM and the carbie overhaul kits. This may be your biggest problem as a few people have reported them as being no longer available. Fuel Miser made a very good kit, search around you still might be able to find them, you will need 2 as a kit only overhauls 1. Once overhauled and set up according to the FSM, your engine will once again run as it was manufactured. Having said alll of that, may I suggest you don't bother, unless your restoring to original condition. This is the only reason why I'm still running Flat Tops as the 260 is origianal and I want to keep it that way. Good luck.. Mike Quote
