zeds4ever Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Read previous post on checking Tacho. Found this the best & quickesr way to test when not installed in car. (1) Obtain four lengths of electrical wire. Better if four different colours. I used Blk/grn/red/blue. (2) Strip a small section of each end of the wire about six to 8 ml should suffice. (3) Connect wires as follow. Black wire from Neg battery terminal & connect other end to black wire situated in white tacho terminal. (4) Green wire from Pos battery terminal & connect other end to green wire ,situated also in white terminal. (5) Where the Igntn wire connects to the + side of the coil discnct this wire & cnct one end of red wire to same, cnct other end of red wire to green & white wire that has small piece of spaghetti tubing attached, situated in white terminal. (Primary wire) (6) Blue wire connects up to +terminal of coil & thence to the green & white wire immediately next to green & white wire that red wire was cnctd to prvsly. You guessed it situated in the white terminal. (Secondary wire) Would point out that car will start even when you reverse the last two procedures ,except Test Tacho won't function. (These wires form a circuit which you must have.) Found it easiest to press ends of wires that hook up to "White trmnl" into the back of same where Tacho wires enter making sure that they make contact with termnl cnctns. Be sure that Tacho is in a safe postn .I sat mine on a piece of cloth on bonnet so that I could check it against in car unit. Hope this clarify's everything OK for everyone. Regards: Alan. Quote
