The 2nd round of the PSCRAQ championship will be on at Morgan Park in Warwick on the 12th and 13th March.

After round 1 at Lakeside on the 20th I am currently in 2nd place in the Z, just 2 points behind 1st.

It would be good to see some of you wander out to watch some great racing with a 40 year old car sticking it up much more modern machinery.

Morgan Park will hopefully suit the torque of the Z better than the MX's. If the C6 'vette is running it should be spectacularly quick on the extended circuit.

up at the HRCC Test weekend at Warwick, you got a few mentions, all good too, most were quite impressed with how a "non current" car did so well!

Just remember consistency is the key, do all the rounds, and all the races etc, and presto!

Most of the preparation for round 2 is done.

The front looks.reasonable for a quick fix and a bit of work with the grinder on the front right guard gives the clearance needed for the type after touching up a hairdresser car at Lakeside. I will pull the guards and headlight buckets off after this weekend and fix properly so the bonnet and spoiler fit again.

A new set of pads went in as the current pads were getting a bit low for comfort for a race meeting.

All that is left to do is to replace the lower radiator hose, or find a spring I can fit in the hose to cure the hose collapsing under constant high revs.

Looking forward to the weekend where I should be able to score plenty of points and stay at the.front of the pack for the championship chase.

It would be good to see some support and for some of you to see that you can step up from sprints and be competitive against more modern machinery in a category where the racing is hard and clean, as well as racing with a great bunch of people who will make you feel more than welcome.

Well the car is ready and the ute packed. Bring on the weekend!!!

Looking at the entry list I should do alright and all going well be at the pointy end of the championship chase.

With porsches also having a run with us I may have also sourced cheap types for the Zed for the rest of the year.

A bit of a frustrating weekend up at Warwick. Have only just got back to work and caught up after having to fly out to Biloela straight after Morgan Park.

Overall for the Championship I am still looking good, I think I ended up 4th or 5th for Group 2B for the championship cars for the three races over the weekend. The rest of the rounds are at Lakeside and QR, so I should be a bit more competitive at those tracks.

Car went well, with still a problem in pumping water out of the radiator, looks like the water pump is pressurising the system so will slow the water pump down to hopefully cure this, it's costing me a fortune in coolant. At least the car isn't getting hot, the temp hovers around 85-95 degrees.

As for times, not so good. Qulaified with a 1:15.38 on the 2.1km circuit to start race one in 19th place. Race one was terrible, I outbraked myself three times into gumtree to spear off the road and finish in a lowly 20th and a fastest time of 1:15 dead.

Race 2 was a little better, started 20th and finished 16th getting down to a best time of 1:14.35. The last race of the day I started in 16th place and was able to get up to 11th thanks to one car taking out a couple of others at gumtree on the opening lap. My best time for the last race was a 1:14.21.

All in all a good weekend in terms of the championship in that I finished every race and bought the car home with no damage. The tyres however are absolutely shot and are starting to delaminate, so I am waiting for one of the Porsche teams to call me to let me know they have tyres available.

In terms of times I need to be down into the 1:11's and 1:10's to be up where I should be. I reckon I can get 2 seconds a lap from fresh tyres, and the rest, well i just have to keep practicing. It was my first time on the 2.1km circuit, and I am still getting my head around the flip flop and the best way to get up the hill.

On the plus side the old Z has plenty of mumbo, the quicker 2F cars couldn't get passed me down the straight or out of corners, by driving a defensive line I was able to hold them at bay through the corner and then pull away with better torque. I also think that next time up there I will run the 4.4 diff, even if we're on the full 3km circuit.

look at getting the front stubs braced, for better tutn in, the flip flop onto the front straight will be easier to manage, also lets look at some more pads, and pre fitt them prior to event, and some  fresh round black goanna flatteners.

your lazy truck motor should not be pumping out that much water, yes try slowing pulley speed, otherwise a recovery tank with an overflow bottle is needed.

links to timing website, and any pics of the action, and utubeies ?

well done.

rmember be consistent, to finish first, first you must make the finish.

Pads were bedded in on Friday so all good, the hawk Blue compound just not quite up there for the car, will try the DTC-70 compound as they work up to 871 degrees compared to the Blue at 540 degrees.

If I could get it passed the financial controller, with the dollar so high I would be looking at a lot of Arizona stuff for underneath the car.....

Whatever it was that was in it last Sept for the 2010 Prodsports 1 hour worked quite well

Do you recall what these were.

I am concerned at the 540 temp rating of the Blue's!

I am a bit confused at the Hawk catalogue with all the variants they have.

Please advise oh wise one

The Hawk Blue pads are what a lot of the MX5's use, but as I messaged will most likely be trying the HT-10's next for the higher temperature rating. I will fire off a email to hawke and see what they have to say.

Got my email back from Hawk this morning when I got into work, they recommended I use the DTC-60 compound so a quick search on the interweb and I now have 2 sets on their way from the USofA for $160 landed, a fair bit cheaper than the $140-4180 per set you get stung out here.

The results from round 2 have been updated on the Prod Sports Web Site, and I'm still 2nd in teh Chanpionship after a frustrating weekend. Even better, I get to drop the worst round and with 2 of the remaining 3 rounds at lakeside and the final at QR, I should be able to stay up near the pointy end of the field.
