tir33d Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 As you all know I have my LS1 in my 280zx and I illuded to some more upgrades, well got the car back after a massive cash injection (try $5k). New fat exhaust. New bigger manifold and throttle body New re-routed fuel system Now unknown to me and the mechanic I had a lead goin bad on me which caused me lots of grief at Wakefield yesterday, honestly couldn't even get one good lap going without it spluttering here and there. But with the above upgrades I obviously have more power. My Racechrono lap timer showed a top speed of 166km/h last time out, this time it was 188km/h - a massive increase. Even with the spluttering I still managed a 1.08.8 - 1.5 secs quicker than last time. So very happy. I had the car up the raod at a mates today and we found the lead issue, gave it a squirt on a pretty average road and felt fantastic. Switched my race chrono over to 400m timer and recorded a 12.4 @ 191km/h. As you can see from the above, the road is horrible. If i was to bolt on some drag radials and be on the dragstrip I think I would easily pull a 11.5. Really happy with the car, still have to put on my big brakes, but I am off to Bathurst for round 1 and 2 of state hillclimb next weekend - time to put a cat amongst the pidgeons. Quote
RB30X Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Nice work. We don't believe you about the lack of traction on that road, take a video next time Do you think there will be any issues running a dead end fuel rail set up like that. The factory one feeds the middle of both banks, kind of. Pressure might be getting low by the time it reaches the injector closest to the booster. I'm still tossing up how to do mine. Similar to yours but with a tee where the hose meets the passenger side rail which also feeds the rear of the drivers side. Quote
tir33d Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 I hear you concerns, and intially with the previous system I did run the reg after the fuel rail, this has been set up by my mate/mechanic who has many high hp Ls1's under his belt. because he ran a new 10mm line to the fuel rail all the way through he is confident that supply won't be an issue. Was also done like this to reduce the amount of travel the fuel does, and hence keep down the temperature of the fuel. last track day I did at Wakefield I couldn't even put my hands around the surge tank because of the heat. this system is what ASE sells for up to 400rwkw so should be ample. 260DET Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 280ZX is a way underestimated track car, have it on good authority that stock the 280ZX was faster than any S30 around Lakeside. Which is a handling circuit. If you want suspension upgrade info I can link you up to some good info, very similar suspension to the BMW E30 so there is a lot of good info out there if you know where to look.. Quote
maddos Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 You weren't at Wakefield today were you? Quote
