RB30X Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I've been fixing up the wiring in my car and one of the things I've noticed is I don't have a hazard light switch, or even any wiring for one. Obviously i will need one to get a rwc From what I can tell I need a special hazard light switch, and a hazard light relay to splice into the existing indicator wiring. Can anyone provide some useful info to help me restore this function. I'm also considering replacing the existing glass fuse holder for a blade fuse type holder. This would involve re wiring the new blade fuse holder using the existing wiring as part of the tidy up. Where is the existing holder supposed to mount? Mine is behind the radio vent panel atm. One of the main reasons I want to remove to glass fuse box is the clear top cover is missing and it keeps arcing out on the brackets due to terminals touching on the front and the back. Cheers Quote
Zeddophile Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I don't think a lot of 240's had hazard light switches, and I doubt it would be required for roadworthy? If they weren't fitted as standard, why should you have to add one? Vicroads VSI26 (april 2009, may have been revised since, but doubt they'd change this bit), while not relevant to you up there, says that "Hazard warning lamps are required on certain licensed buses and late model vehicles.." That's all they say, so at least down here hazard lights on a Zed aren't required (IMO).... Quote
Riceburner Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 My 73 Z doesn't have hazards, but 77 2+2 260Z (parts car) does have them. Quote
RB30X Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 Ahhhhhhh ha. This is good news. Thankyou. I guess I won't have to worry about installing one at all then. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 3, 2010 Moderators Posted October 3, 2010 All 240's have the wiring for hazards; you will find behind the heater control panel a white plug with about 5-6 green wires on it with another plug with a loop. You may need to add another flasher can too. Find a 260Z hazard switch (or a 240 one from the US) and it should plug in. A later 260Z switch has a different plug so you will have to change that.
