In my 240Z the threads for the top seat belt anchor point are either damaged or it looks like someone has tried to weld a new thread where the old one was unsuccessfully. Does someone have info on the rules and regs etc for alternative seat belt mounts/anchor points? I currently have the anchor point bolted down to one of the rear strut bolts which also has the rear strut brace on it as well. I want to start looking at what I need to do for a RWC.

Tim - The inspectors will be all over you on this one. Those mounting points are lab tested to ensure ADR standards and you cannot alter the configuration. See if you can get to the rear of the nut via removing some of the trim and roof lining. If you can, drill out the thread and feed a bolt (the same dia as an existing standard bolt) through from the rear and tighten it down with a thin nut. You then have a male fitting rather than the standard female and you can reattach the seatbelt anchor plate.

Hi , Tim, there is a bloke here in Townsville who will certify new anchor points, had it done on one of my cars, I will see if I can find his name and number.

Cheers Tony
