Hey guys, I was speaking to my roofing plumber Kim today and he was telling me about a 240z competition that Nissan Australia ran in the 70s or 80s. His father won the car. It was a Nissan Australia factory restored car, red in colour. He said that his father drove the prize car once and then sold it to the original new car owner who contacted him wanting to buy it back. He reportedly sold it for $15,000.

Anyone herd of this before?

I will see the plumber again soon so I will pump him for some more info then.

The Factory Restored cars where LHD. It was a mis-nomer to call them Factory Restored as they where actually restored by various Zed restorer's for Nissan USA. You'll find a read up on the IZCC site.

As for 25th anniversary in OZ, well by my calculations that would be 1995. I can't remember Nissan doing anything for it apart from a possible launch of a '95 model Z32 with a recently (non factory) restored 240Z (something in the back of my mind seems to think that something like that happened, but I'd have to pull out to many club mag's to verify it.

Someone else might be able to nail it.

I have seen a 25th anniversay model.  Lancefield John has one.  They look for all purposes a 240Z but have a special bonnet badge.  I think (read don't really know) they were released in about 1979, so they obviously refer to an anniversary of something other than the first 240z release.  It might be the relaese of the 2000 sports (in-line engine??).  Someone will know.

The badge is round and  has 25th Anniversary written in the middle with leaved branches running from the bottom around the edges.  The badge (from memory) is silver- which would make sense as a 25th anniversary is a silver anniversary.

I can't find much info on the webby thing.  I found 2 cars sold by Shannons that are described as "  remanufactured 25th anniversary..' models but doesn't provide any details of when it was remanufactured or how.

Aren't those badges off Z31 anniversary models, Apart from looking new and shiny I thought the only difference of the restored 240's was they came with was a certificate of authenticity from Nissan and a 12mnth warranty.  ???

I thought this was only done in the USA

In the Lancefield Collection (13 Zeds in a paddock) thread, John Sirpent took a number of photos.  Photo #7 is the anniversary model of which I speak.  I'm afraid that I don't have the skills to move it to here.

Well, I guess you can believe what you want to believe.

The question was asked and I've tried my best to point you in the correct direction.

As to how you want to interpret history is entirely up to you.

Here's photo#7 It's a 260z. I have never heard of these being a 25th anniversary model...

The factory restored cars was a marketing ploy from Nissan carried out in the states, total of 38 LHD low vin 240Z mainly purchased from arizona and california.

I think it's a 260z with a 300zx anniversary badge somone has put on, But if I'm proved wrong I think we'd all be racing up there to buy it  :)
