240z l24/28 exhaust

Hi Guys,

 

Ive tried searching but could not find the answer i was looking for.

 

Im looking to upgrade my exhaust on my l24 240z.

 

Down the track i am looking to upgrade to the l28.

 

My question is will the exhaust from an l24 be a straight swap to the l28?

 

I dont want to get a new exhaust then have to change it down the track when i change engines.

 

ps. if this has been covered then please feel free to flame me. its the only way ill learn

should be a near enough direct swap,

 

Will the L28 be EFI or Carbied? (ther will be a few minor differences there)

 

and ill you be useing factory exhaust manifold or extractors?

ill be keeping it carbied (just love that sound - and having a choke is cool lol)

 

for the moment itll be just the factory manifold. later on extractors will be changed.

 

any companies around here which ppl would recommend for extractors? id imagine all the aftermarket ones for z would be quite rare and expensive these days so will probably have to go for custom

Depending on what you want to do with the car, a 2¼ system is a good all rounder; unless you plan on modifying the L28 with triples etc then I'd go for a 2½ exhaust. If you go too big it won't be good if you run with the L24 for a long period. trick is to keep gas velocity high with enough back perssure..(unless it's turbo)

yeh i was thinking 2 1/4".

 

Thats what i had on my ol' honda type r 4 banger.

 

Would be the biggest id go on an NA application.
