what colour zinc?

I'm starting to do some home plating on all my  parts but just wondering were all parts yellow zinc or silver zinc, or was there a mix of both(on the 240z)

I've always seen yellow zinc on restored zeds. Either that or they are painted the body colour as with the low profile headed bolts for the guards.

Just looking at my unrestored bits and pieces here...

 

door catches ..................................................................... silver

 

hatch stoppers (with the nylon blocks in them)................... silver

 

hatch stopper wedges........................................................ silver

 

hatch hinges ..................................................................... silver

 

hatch catch (both parts)..................................................... silver

 

dip stick ............................................................................ looks to be silver but gold can look neat

 

carby linkages, quadrants and brackets .............................. gold

 

fuel cap and mating base ................................................... gold

 

bonnet catch (both parts) .................................................. gold

 

hatch boot reinforcers (if you've got them).......................... gold, these are not the door adjusting shims, they keep boot flange in place

 

trouble light....................................................................... gold

Don't think I explained that properly....it's possible that a lot of boot reinforcers got tossed or just simply left off the car but if we start from

the body, the parts for the boots and hinges in their order are.....

The Reinforcer is a thin metal part shaped at right angles and covers the whole outer flange of the boot to

to keep the rubber flange in shape and prevent moisture entering the cavity in the body for the hinge ...it also acts

as a solid base for the adjusting shim and or hinge to squeeze against once the bolts are tightened

I know the part you mean, I've got some slightly mangled ones, good info here although I'll have to replate some parts I've done wrong though
