Z car Club Qld has had all 60 places filled, most by members and quite a few by non members. You do not need to go through the hassle of becoming a memebr of anything to come out and have a play, but if you do, we will welcome you! PZG302 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 WooHoo!!!! only a few sleeps left!!!! The weather is looking promising, and the car should be in it's temporary home after a couple of days sorting out alternators and getting some wiring updated and replaced. Hopefully the exhaust baffle will keep the car under the noise limit and it's dry enough to have the bald tyres fitted for the day Looking forward to this only a little bit, and hopefully I will have my head in gear to put down some quickish times. peter t Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 What a thing to miss. Shame some of us have to go to work. Lucky to be home last weekend for Bathurst. Hope it will be a fine day for the rest of you people. Enjoy the day and post pics. Quote

Zedback Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 WOW that was fun! ...well by the 3rd run it was. Came back from the first run wondering what I had got myself into and whether I should just quietly retire 2nd run came back wondeing why I spent so much time coasting when I should have a foot either on the accelerator or the brake 3rd run tried to practice what I'd thought and it suddenly became a lot more fun and knocked 5 seconds off 4th run was going to try and get even more off but on the second lap lost power and sounded odd Ended up just being one of the coil pack connectors had vibrated loose The downside is I want to do it again ...with better tyres, brakes and less sloppy suspension ...which means spending the non-existent s30 resto budget on the z32 :-\ [edit: remembering this is my first time ever on a track - best was 74.71 on the 1st lap of the 4th run, then did 2 laps at 75.xx on 5 cylinders, so like to think I would have dropped a couple more seconds.] Many thanks to the Qld Z Car Club for organising Quote
Z Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Now that was a good meet - darn z'ds everywhere, spoilt for choice! I was a bystander getting high on fuel vapor and some seriously quick Datsuns swarming round the track. Top day fellas, loved every second. Quote
. Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Times Zedback? I managed 67s on a number of occasions yesterday. I was hoping to break my record of a 66 but it wasn't to be (unless I managed it in the last run which I haven't seen). Earlier in the day a yellow early model Lancer ran into a zed doing extensive damage to the door and rear quarter. LAter on I watch my brother approaching the same Lancer. I couldn't help but yell "stay away from the Lancer!!!!" but he made it past. Then I lost sight of them and the Lancer emerged but my car didn't........You can imagine the images going through my head. 30 seconds later the car appeared. I knew something had happened but didn't know what. IT turned out he had lost it at the end of the straight and spun it onto the grass, cracking my front spoiler in the process. Ah well we all know the risks I was well impressed with my brother's drive (aside from his garden work) He managed a number of 69s (on the track that is!!!) Not bad for a novice. A duck decided to cross the straight right in front of him too but he managed to avoid it. There was a few occasions where my tail was hanging out. Earlier in the day it was due to some oil dropped on the track, later in the day it was due to me testing the limits. On one occasion, almost at the end of Eastern loop, the car broke traction at around 140 and I had images of over correcting it into the wall. I should have some video posted in a few days. I highly recommend getting behind this event if it is run again. It really was a hoot. It made me forget all about the disappointment of the Bathurst FOSC cancellation....and that is really saying something. Lets see if we can get 60 zeds in a single location? Thanks to the organisers for their efforts. Quote
