DAT392 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Went racing at calder a couple of months ago,and had heaps of fun!Afterward parked car in garage at home and a week later I put it back to street specs.Went for a drive and as written before had a clunking noise coming from the drivetrain, noticing the diff rocking.Made the ron tyler mount, prob solved.Took the zed for a drive, still slight clonk, but also a slight grind.Changed trans mount, diff mount, same.Pulled tailshaft out and decided may as well upgrade, thinking maybe unis so I had made a 3inch shaft with big yolks plus unis.SAME bloody noise? Now theres only 2 left, the auto and the diff.Jacked rear of car and turned one wheel noticing some play until the other side spun as its lsd. Then turned it backwards noticing play, like a10 cm at least gap until there was tension and the other wheel turned, same spinning forward. Is that normal?Ive given up sought of may have to get a mechanic mate to analyse and fix the prob as I may rebuild the whole car before I find the problem.I hate my car just sitting there.Dont mind a challenge but I surrender on this one. Scoota G Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Yep, dale and i fell for this one too. Tighten the two bolt on the mustache bar, might need some new washers as well. Quote
DAT392 Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Checked the bolts on the moustache bar but they are super tight.Decided to drain diff oil and found alot of metal shavings stuck to the drain bolt so I think this must be my problem.Im a little pissed as had a diff guy replce the gears a year ago and asked them to fully check and replace anything needed while it was apart. Before it went there I had bought the lsd 10 years ago fully rebuilt and gave it plenty of abuse, before the hoon laws of course without any drama.Im gonna give craigs diff guy a ring and hopefully Ill be back on the road.
