1979ZED Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Hi Guys, For restoration purposes I am trying to determine whether the engine in my car is the original or not. Where was the engine number stamped onto a plate. This is a 280zx. I have the vin plate and then another one on the other side. The one on the other side has detereated over the years and does really have anything left on it. Was this the plate? and if this is the case there is no real point on keeping the original engine seeing as you can't read the engine number. Quote
NZeder Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 There is no engine number stamped on the car there is the chassis number stamped on the car. Then the engine number on the engine. Both of these are then stamped onto the ID plate with is riveted to the body work under the engine bay. For a 280zx is should be located here - see pic attached. Quote
