1979ZED Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Hey Guys, I've got a P90 head off a patrol. My question is, will the cam need to be changed to suit a 280zx bottom end? Quote
Scoota G Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Nah those heads are Junk, send it to me Seriously but are you going with Turbo, Triples, ITB's or the standard fuel injection? Quote
1979ZED Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 i'm wanting to turbo the 280 which is why I bought the heads. Quote
stevo_gj Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Just changed up the title of your thread so it's easier for people to know what you're asking without having to click on the thread. This would be a reasonably common question and therefore should be easier to find using the search function with the new title. Quote
Roberto Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I was of the belief that 280zx cam was slightly "warmer" than the patrol cam. I may be wrong. Cams aside though, is there any difference between a 280zx P90 or patrol P90? Quote
DatPilot Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Call up Kelford Cams in NZ, they make some ripper turbo cams for the L series, and are billet blanks, not dodgey bro regrinds. Free shipping to Aus too. Although this all depends on how serious you are, and how much research you do.... Quote
Scando Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 You could try to find the "B" grind cam which is the factory turbo cam. I'm running a regrind to suit the turbo from powerplay (formerly datrally) and am very happy with the results and price. Quote
ozconnection Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I suspect that the cam timing in a Patrol will be very short. Bottom end torque would be a priority. A factory turbo cam is a very short cam as well, with minimal overlap. The two cams may be very close to identical.......a good starting point as far as the cam goes, at least. So P90 heads did come to Australia in MQ's!! Fact or fiction? Quote
