Does a P90 Patrol Head need its cam to be modified to suit a 280zx bottom end?

Just changed up the title of your thread so it's easier for people to know what you're asking without having to click on the thread. This would be a reasonably common question and therefore should be easier to find using the search function with the new title.

I was of the belief that 280zx cam was slightly "warmer" than the patrol cam.  I may be wrong.

Cams aside though, is there any difference between a 280zx P90 or patrol P90?

Call up Kelford Cams in NZ, they make some ripper turbo cams for the L series, and are billet blanks, not dodgey bro regrinds. Free shipping to Aus too.

Although this all depends on how serious you are, and how much research you do.... ;)

You could try to find the "B" grind cam which is the factory turbo cam.  I'm running a regrind to suit the turbo from powerplay (formerly datrally) and am very happy with the results and price.

I suspect that the cam timing in a Patrol will be very short. Bottom end torque would be a priority.

A factory turbo cam is a very short cam as well, with minimal overlap.

The two cams may be very close to identical.......a good starting point as far as the cam goes, at least.

So P90 heads did come to Australia in MQ's!!

Fact or fiction?
