240z Heater Valve

Hi

 

I am rebuilding my 240z and my heater valve is brocken; these are no longer available I am told.

 

Has anyone had any luck converting the original standard item valve to the generic valve available from Repco?

I got a brand new one from AllZparts in Sydney 02 94760966

is this the valve/tap that sits outside the heater box on the drivers side?

 

if it is...mine was stuffed too and you can replace with one from a commodore (VL i think) the replacement has a circular tap arrangement and will not be directly secured to the box but it seems to work and was what Rob at Zqorx recommended to me (mind you he helped put it in too, so i no expert.)

My Z came with a non-standard tap, sounds the same as Huws, works fine.
