Thomo260 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Attached to the coil is this little resistor thingo and one wire goes to the coil and the other goes nowhere. I can't find anything in the loom or a wiring diagram to tell me where it should be. Any ideas? Cheers Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 29, 2010 Moderators Posted January 29, 2010 If that wire is just going to the condesnsor (capacitor) you can ignore it. Looks like that condensor has a wire going through it and is already connected to the coil. It has 2 connections so as long as one is connected, ignore the second. Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 nope, its the ignition loop wire, the one that comes back from the start point on your ignition barrel, it supplies 12v to coil on startup only, then when its started & return the key to on ie not starter, it goes back to 8v through the ballast resistor which obviuously is not hooked up. This is what you do only when you have no points, ie electronic dizzy or other, as it burns out the points too quick with 12v running through all the time, also make sure the coil is a constant 12v ie "Use Without Ballast resistor" aslong as you check the 3 boxes above it will be fine. Thomo260 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Thanks for that. If that's the case then I need to connect it as I still run points system. Any idea's on what to connect it to? There are no obvious wires near it to connect to. Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 easiest to refer to wiring diagram to show the loop that is created when in the ON posn, grab a test light and probe (disconnect all wires to coil & ballast resistor) find the wire which only lights up when starting, this coes to coil, then find the ON posn light only this goes to resistor, then other side of resistor goes to coil (same terminal as the start wire) from memory the black white is the start only, and green white i think it is is ign ON.
