can somone tell me why the engine appears to be handed on this car

The intake is on the RH side not on the LH side

They put the slide in backwards 

 

I'd say the photo has been "reversed" in photoshop (or whatever they used to edit it). Given that its in the UK (RHD), the brake master cylinder, etc is also on the wrong side (LHD) in that pic.

yes 1600dave you beat me to it. Look at the 4th pic with the rear of the car. The sign writing on the side of the van is mirror image.

What the heck? why would they do that?

 

Is it to encourage Americans to buy it or something?

it also could be a scan of a photo that then wasnt fixed up because

a. He didnt have time

b. They dont have cold beer over there

 

Or perhaps there was a naked women to the right of the car so they flipped it and deleted it in PS so it looked better for ebay as ebay only allows nakedness in the lingerie section... not that I look there ... much.

 

Or perhaps it is sagging slightly to the left so they flipped it so that your eye was tricked by some trompe l'oeil effect .

 

Or perhaps they did it to get more views on their page as it would be disseminated around the world by datto aficionados on the web which would mean he/she would have a better chance of selling a rare datsun. 

 

Or perhaps after watching too much sci fi channel the guy wanted to realise his dreams of being richard dean anderson from the stargate television series and wanted a car from an alternate reality where dattos had their intakes on the right hand side and in that reality were faster than porsches.

 

Or he has just popped the top of the head onto the engine to show " yes it has a full engine " but put it on the wrong way around.

 

For the humourless I know it is a flipped photo but I am giving the pp some ideas as to why he might want to have flipped photos.
