Car painting with roler strikes again aka poor mans paint job

Found this while looking for something totaly different. i knew we discussed this before on this forum with that orange charger.

Using an airless sprayer, and either water or solvent based house paint the same could be achieved as an automotive finish. Though, with a roller, im not so sure. Though the photo's look pretty good to me, i think the only way to get it smooth with a roller would be to layer it on at about 300 microns or so.. for it to settle out.. It's pretty impressive if that is a roller job.

there are a fair few around now. i've continually been playing around with boat paint and the guys at the shop i've been buying it from generally chip and start on about them helping paint their mates motorbikes etc with the same stuff with a brush and how good it looks etc

 

i've found you can also just put it on fairly thick and sand it down/polish it up and get a decent finish - it still obviously does not look like it has a clear coat on it, and i havent' bothered putting wax on any of it yet

 

there's a guy somewhere in melb's north suburbs that was painting his mx5 black and it looked amazing, along with this guys vn commonwhore

my friend use to paint his speedway car with a roller and it always came up like it was sprayed with a gun The best part is you dont waist paint from and there is no over spray.

I wouldn't do it on my restoration though lol
