(Locky) Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 having a issue a) trying to figure out how the headlight assembly goes on b) tail light problem, bearly working normally, not working when the headlights are on a) can some one please tell me how the assembly goes on , not matter which way i did it it seemed that the lights were pionting at wierd angles and then the bucket wouldnt fit over it and line up properly. does it go gaurd round metal bowl shape thing headlight bucket/surround thing bolt onto gaurd b)taillight issue it was all going to well before the i came across the wiring gremlins basicall all the indicators/ brake light come on, but are VERY dull, and can pretty much not be seen when they are actually inside the tailights. blinkers are quite slow when you turn the headlights- tailights come on (i think) when you brake the tailights go out and no brake lights no blinkers front or back (dont flash and i think the left one stops working) right rearblinker globe stuck on i think thats it so any ideas ?? all fuses are fine hpaaens when car is on or off flashercan indicator stalk Quote
NZeder Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Re the tail light issue. I have seen this before. It was an earthing issue at the rear of the taillight harness. So it might pay to check that out and even create a new earth. Quote
monkeyman Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Agree with NZeder. You have a common high impedance connection which is limiting the current through all those circuits. Flasher cans (some at least), use a bimetallic strip to act as the switch, so if there isn't enough current in them to heat up the strip, they won't blink. So I don't think your can is faulty. Do the park lights and blinkers up the front go dim too? Check where all these items connect to the chassis, and while you are at it, check the battery cable at both ends is well connected; at the battery end and at the starter motor end. As far as the headlamp goes. It's been a while since I had mine apart. But you know the direction they point in is adjustable don't you? There are screws you access from the front that adjust the axes of the headlamp. Maybe you just need to make some adjustment there. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 10, 2009 Moderators Posted September 10, 2009 The headlight bucket bolts in from inside the wheel well with four M5 or M4 screws. Before you do that, mount the headlight into the frame but make sure where the cable exits from the back of the frame, it is pointing downward. When you install the headlight, make sure the headlight is the right way up! Then plug it in, install the retaining ring and bolt it in from the rear with the four screws. On the guard, if the nose cone is off, you will see four small nuts welded to the guard. Run a tap through to make sure you don't suffer when you install the screws. Dirt makes them a mofo. Rest of it is easy. Quote
