. Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Steve helped me get that hatch out from behind all the bonnets. He was after the chrome strips. I have attached some photos of the condition of the hatch. It does have some rust but might clean up ok. I have tried to include pics of the worse areas. How does $40 sound? Quote
craig_cameron Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Hey Thanks. Yeah $40 bucks sound great. We'll have to work out when i'll be able to get up there to pick it up. Thank you for the parts and help, it's greatly appreciated From Craig Quote
stevo_gj Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Yeah cheers for the strips Greg. Now I just got to find some time to polish them up Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 chrome strips i hear? you dont happen to have the strips that run along the door frame? ie up the front along the top and down the back? I dont have the driver or passenger door strips. Quote
stevo_gj Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hey Greg, Had a crack at cleaning the crud off those strips and found it to be quite resistant. You think degreaser will do the job? Apart from that I'm not sure what else to try... I don't want to start scratching the metal too badly. Any thoughts? Quote
RBZ 260 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 depends what the crud is? . i had burnt clear coating on mine bit of paint striper did the job than autosol to give it nice and bright. other than that use a old credit card or similar and try force it off if its more stuborn. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 autosol works it just had work maybe a job for wet day Quote
RB30X Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I think you need a feminine touch, lol. A stripper should do the trick. Jane Are you still talking about his chrome strips??? Quote
stevo_gj Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 har har... Ended up finding some oven cleaner in the cupboard. Got the encrusted dirt and grime off very easily. Given them a polish and now they are ready to pop back into the rubbers. jeez now im reading innuendo into everything... Quote
stevo_gj Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 so oven cleaner is the go on chrome stuff aye? negggative I have no idea how it would go on chrome, probably wreck it. These strips are just metal strips with no coating and therefore you can afford to use something that strong on them. I don't think using oven cleaner on chrome would be a good move Edit, I'm pretty sure they're not chrome.. can anyone confirm? Quote
