Nasty clutch needed and gearbox to suit

Hey everyone, new here but have a bit of an idea.

 

I am the lucky recipient that bought that 280zx from Sydney of ebay 6 weeks ago. The red one with the turbo.

Anyway the prob with not starting was rectified by de-wiring the alarm. Had it running within 1 hour. Gearbox needed replacing - done that with a second hand unit. Replaced 2 tie rod ends and rego was done.

 

the car initially only made 6psi but has a boost controller as well as the wolf 3d. I thought there was something not right so gave to an auto elec to get him to go over wiring. He rewired most of it and found the Throtte Pos switch to be faulty. When he gave it back he smiled and said that he wished he had it.

 

Well now I can wind up to 20psi of boost into this little motor and doesn't she boogy. I also own a VE 6litre with 320kw's at the wheels but I think this would give it some curry. Needless to say the clutch doesn't like this boost level and is slipping under anymore than 10psi of boost. So I need a clutch. I made the step with my VE of going to a button clutch for the abuse factor. Manufacter encourages clutch kicking the car on the drag strip. I found a similar clutch on ebay US, 6 puck with pressure plate $180 US including postage.

I think this clutch will be up to the demands and I am aware of the issues with button clutches, ie shuddering. But what will I do about the gearbox. It is showing signs of stress already.

Although I bought this car cheap I think I may spend some money on it and make it into a road registered track car. I currently use my VE and it scares me to think of the cost if I put it into a wall.

So questions will follow about, coilovers and suspension bushings and also brakes.
