24Ozed Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Hi Guys, I'm after an N42 intake manifold. Have attached a pic of the one i want.. Currently i have the one with all the anti polution gear on it and wanted to be gone with all that and just have a clean manifold!. Not sure if theres any other differences but this type look a lot neater.. Thanks travjacq@bigpond.net.au Quote
PZG302 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 What size throttle body does the manifold have?? There are three types I know of and the one you want is the single 63mm turbo one. There is a smaller single and dual stage twin hole as well, and they are generally not interchangeable between manifolds. Quote
luke_mcmahon85 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 don't quote me on this, but i don't think we got this type of manifold in australia... it appears to be the non-webbed, non-egr manifold from a 280z i have a similar one (large plenum, not the one that tapers) at home, as well as one that tapers - the tapering one definately has the sort of teardrop shaped intake with dual butterflys - the larger plenum one has a more open hole, but not quite round from memory, i have an XF throttle body that goes with it, so i'm not sure what was originally on it. Also, the one i have has webbing, although i've ground most of it away Quote
24Ozed Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Hi guys, Thanks for your replies. It would make sense that these are only a US 280zx item as i first started seeing them on US Ebay. Back when the dollar was good i should have picked one up then, but the killer seems to be postage for an item this size to Australia. Quotes from ebay users have ranged from $150US upwards!. Have seen a couple come up on Aus Ebay but at that stage i had a change of heart and was leaning towards an RB. I'm unsure what sized throttle body they have, as i said i don't know much about them.. only that it will look a lot nicer that my current standard manifold. So if anyone has one that wants to sell let me know!. Thanks Travis Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 7, 2009 Moderators Posted March 7, 2009 Is it alot of hard work to just cut up and modify a standard 280ZX one? I've seen a couple done; just some welding/cutting and grinding! May not look as good, but counts in the $$ saved. Quote
24Ozed Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Managed to pick up a cheap one from the US ! All up including postage approx $100 USD and its clean as.. Thanks dudez Quote
