nuclear_z Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Righteo.... Well I am on the way of getting the pipework sorted for the engine bay and keeping the engineer and the RTA happy.... NEXT ISSUE: I have a 15/16" MC which is great for discs.... On the front of the car I have R33 calipers on BMW 735 discs and a 5 stud hub which is awesome... Down side - I have the standard 240z drums on the bum... The engineer would like to see the same stud number and PCD on the front and back... Anyone know of a solution that doesnt cost the earth to do? SPending some money is a given, but hopefully not thousands.... Quote
Woza01 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 how about buying a set of AZC 5 stud rear hubs ? Quote
RBZ 260 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 done that to mine. may have to dig up my old posts. i used Z31 turbo stuff. total cost around $600. but thats with CV driveshaft conversion as well. Quote
nuclear_z Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 Nice. Thanks for that. I will do a search through and try and find your hubs... I would love to change the rims on my car but cant until I sought the stud pattern out... Quote
RBZ 260 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 http://www.thezgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=422&highlight=stud check this post out but the picture tells half the story. there are other bits that u need to know while machining hubs and shortening cvs. let me know if u want any other info about it. Guy in Adelaide did the machining for $200 which was 1/5 the price i got quoted else where. retired mech engineer with massive machines in his shed.hope hes still alive as i want another set of hubs redone. he is 76yo good old school engineer. wouldnt give him more than 60. now this was mainly done because i wanted to use Z31 turbo stub axles and companion flange so i can use my turbo CV drive shafts that came with the LSD diff.also the rear disk brakes are straight of the Z31 turbo. 5 stud was always on the cards and it just came with the rest of it. if u want a slightly cheaper and less hassle version contact member Nato_Chevz240. or something like that. (im sure he reply to this) hes done a realy nice job on his car. it involves removing the original studs rewelding the whole thing and redrilling for 5 stud. on the end look like it was originaly made like that. problem with just removing the studs and not rewelding look unproffesional and bit dangerous. When u redrill for 5 stud some studs will be very close to the edge. another option ive seen is 4 to 5stud spacers/converters. again not legal in all states. check with your engineer. Thanks! That is some awesome info! Currently I have spacers on front and rear, which are not legal in nsw, but have been designed to change the pcd to 4x100 (honda spacing)... I want to bugger off the spacing... Possibly the simplest option for me would be making the front 4 stud again... That would probably make the engineer the happiest. There is a reasonable range of wheels in the standard PCD isnt there? I dont think my car makes enough grunt to really demand a 5 stud upgrade... I checked out the Modern Motorsport kits available, but with the exchange rate as it is, not really a good option as their kits are far from complete... Quote
