pauly_adams Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 hey everyone, im in the hunt for a windscreen for my 2+2 as it shatted in half whilst removing it. i was going to purchase a new one but i haveto goto melbourne to pick up a tailshaft for my brothers 300zx and thought i may be able to get a second hand one off one of you guys. so if some one has a parts car or a spare windscreen and will part with it i would be very happy to take it off your hands as i have just finished painting my 260z and want to go for a good drive. cheers pauly Quote

pauly_adams Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 if i could get one for that price new i would be more than happy to buy one up here, but i live in albury and the lowest ive been quoted is $230 un fitted and ive called every glass place there is up here. so thats why i was chasing a second hand one from melbourne as i haveto go down there anyway. if some one has one feel free to post or pm as there is no way im going to pay $230 for a windscreen when there are many of you with parts cars. cheers pauly Quote

The windscreen on the blue Z (car I bought off you) was destined for my 2 seater but about two months ago It got a crack in it. I have no idea how this happened as the Blue Z is kept undercover. I need new windscreens for both my daily driver (Red 2+2) and my white 2 seater, so I intend to talk to Shannons tomorrow as all my Z's are insured with them. Shannons offers a "free" windscreen replacement every 12 months but in all the years that I have been insured with them I have never taken them up on the offer. Any one claimed a windscreen from Shannons? Quote
maddos Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Yep I've made the Shannons claim. Very simple just need to make sure windscreen place is approved by them I think. Think I used O'Briens. They even ordered a new rubber in case. Turned out my old rubber was ok and didn't need to use it. Quote

pauly_adams Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 well after rining around i finaly found a bloke who was atculy quite resonable he is juat a small time guy so i ordered the windscreen through him cost $120. the quote i got from obrians was by far the highest $293. so now i have the front windscreen the last thing i need is the rear windscreen seel so can anyone help me out with a new or second hand one. cheers pauly Quote

pauly_adams Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 i ended up finding a guy in wodonga it ended up costing me a whoping $120 and i fitted it myself, took 10 mins to do id give fitting it yourself a try first you just haveto run some thin polly rope around the windscreen seal and pull it out as it going in. there is a much more detailed writeup on the forum id have a search for it. cheers pauly Quote

68GTCS Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I've only had my zed for a little while but found the screens leaked badly so had planned on getting them fixed by Alan Locke in Miranda (a champion at making things designed to leak - like mustangs and zeds actually seal) but got a stone chip so accelerated the deal. Got the freebie from shannons and Alan was able to supply one without the black ceramic surround. The old one had this on it and the change was immense. The cabin is so much lighter and there is a huge improvement to visibility - would strongly recommend getting one without the black ceramic surround. Quote
Zednalong Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Damb pauly, I have been saving one for years out of my race car because it was too good to throw away, as I was sponsored by a windscreen mob I just kept getting new ones each year, and not a month ago I threw it in the tip, it broke my heart to tip a good clean Z part, but I didn't know about the Z forum then, bugga Quote
