sco_aus Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Reasonably similar to the AZC ones. Shame i'm broke atm lol Quote
Charlie Boy Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hi guy’s just to let you know Warren very kindly let me buy is development kit as my car was about to head of to the UK so it was the last chance to get them fitted. I had Daniel Moore fit them and the feed back I’ve had from him was very positive, he said the kit fitted perfect, was great quality and functioned well. I know Warren has now tweaked the design even further so I would think its better then perfect now and good to go for the group buy! Cheers Warren Charlie Quote
sco_aus Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 That sounds really good. I am really pissed at myself, I doubt I will have the money in time for this, just too many things going on right now. I am trying my hardest, maybe I can hit someone up for it to be a late christmas pressie for me Quote

Woza01 Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks Guys, Im close to finishing up the drawings, which I can then send out to a mnumber of suppliers etc for quotation. I will post final prices & details here soon. Warren (Woza01) Quote
ToxicDoc Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 This is perfect timing. I've had a 510 in storage for a long time waiting for mod/restoration. When I last looked, Wilwood brakes were not on the menu. Now i have restarted my project. If you can add me to your list, I would appreciate it. Also, it is a little ironic but you are importing from the US and I'll be asking you to ship back here. Quote
PeterAllen Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 ... Also, it is a little ironic but you are importing from the US and I'll be asking you to ship back here. Your statement could create some ambiguity. Make sure you understand that the Wilwood items are NOT included - they are your responsibility. (edit: Nothing comes here from the US and is then shipped back as part of Woza's package) Quote
ToxicDoc Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Ambiguous? Perhaps. So in case someone skips the first post, this is what he is advertising: "comprise of 2 Caliper brackets, 2 small handbrake cable mounts, and a brand new custom Handbrake cable" I'm ordering the Arizona kit now. Quote
Woza01 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Hey ToxicDoc - Thanks for your interest !....PLease be aware that this kit was developed for the S30 Series Z Cars, so fitment to a 510 (or 1600's as they are known here in Australia) cant be guaranteed... INTERESTED Z OWNERS If you're interested, add your name to this list and re-post it! 1. jerryb - Hybrid Z 2. PeterAllen 3. Charlie Boy 4. sco_aus (tentative) 5. zedevan 6. PeterAllen Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 ...I'm ordering the Arizona kit now. This whole reference to 'Arizona' is a misnomer. The Arizona Z rear kit is comprised of Wilwood hats, Wilwood rotors, Wilwood calipers, s/s hoses & mounting brackets. The only Arizona Z bits are the mounting brackets which are replaced by Woza's brackets. There is no need to buy the 'kit' from Arizona Z at all. Don't pay for something you don't need. Having stated that, Dave is the cheapest known supplier of the Wilwood parking caliper to Oz and may be the cheapest supplier of Wilwood items generally to Oz, and possibly US customers. Quote
ToxicDoc Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I appreciate the concern, and I'll be cautious with my selections. AZC however has additional solutions for me because I have a 510 (perhaps you call it a 1600?), not a Z There are also currency exchange and shipping charges to consider. http://www.arizonazcar.com/510brakes.html At the time I purchased the vehicle, circa 2002, no one made Wilwood conversions for it. Troy Ermish does now, but that was long after I bought my fancy, powder-coated, anodized, 280 zx struts with an initial plan to use stock zx brakes. His rear kit however, seems to use a smaller caliper and non-vented rotor. http://www.ermish-racing.com/510/brakes.html So my current plan is to use AZC front and rear wheel package and see if Woza01's bracket will bolt onto my 510 rear arm/hub. If it doesn't, I can try to make a hybrid of the two brackets or use it to design another. I have a plasma cutter, a MIG welder, some determination, and access to a good fabricator if i can't figure it out. It would just be nice to avoid some of the fabricating. I have enough to do. So, I currently have in the shop for consideration: a. a rust-free but slightly dented disassembled '72 510 undergoing restoration a. modified stock struts with Ground Control coil kit (recently disassembled) b. stock 280 zx strut assemblies c. fancy modified zx struts d. stock rear 510 drums with Ground control coil kit e. 200 sx rear discs (my initial plan and maybe what Ermish is using) f. donor '96 Camaro 3800 and a friend who is very good at building hybrid cars (not part of this discussion) http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a241/MartinezMD/?action=view¤t=72BuriedButNotForgotten.jpg (the other fenders and doors in the picture are for a '55 Chevy) I have since dusted it off and started working on it again. The radiator support is removed and we are straightening some inner fender damage. I have a straight/undented replacement support and valence. We are now measuring and preparing for the 3800 swap. Woza01 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Hey Again, mate, no problem at all in supplying you a kit, however before you commit, have a look at the following webiste, also astralian based. They have MULTIPLE options available for 510's....nothing left to think about ! http://www.datsport.com/Rear_brake_conversions.html As for the Currency COnversions....youll enjoy buying from Australia :-) Quote
ToxicDoc Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks for the link. I had forgotten about Datsport. I purchased a bumper from them long ago. As for commitments, let's see what your kit will cost after you get your prices calculated. It may still be worth the gamble as the AZC rear kit is still a good bit cheaper than Datsport even with the exchange rate. Quote

jerryb Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I have NEVER come across less expensive Wildwood components than at AZC. If you do please let the world know. I just dont understand how he does it....and dont plan to complain about it! Quote

Woza01 Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 UPDATE Hey All...... All my quotes have come in, but the quote on the new cable was a lot more than I was hoping (basically the supplier said that there was no discount for a large order). So...I have done some more searching for suppliers, and found a mob that specialise in cables only. My Logic says that they 'should' be cheaper as thats their specialty. Anyway, after a quick conversation with the guy, and after he had a look at my drawing, hes quoted me a price that is much more acceptable. I am awaiting for him to send me the parts required to make up the first cable so I can verify that it will be compatible with the other kit components. Its put me back a week or two - Sorry !...End result though will hopefully be a better quality cable and a lower kit price. Other quotes have come in at pretty much what I was expecting, so assuming that the cable is all good, then Im happy to say that I will be able to offer the kit for $475 (Aussie) Plus Postage. PLEASE NOTE : This price is subject to the cable being of acceptable quality and fitment. If you have any questions or queries, please email me at wgilbert@iinet.net.au. Quote
Woza01 Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Update..... Got the first batch of plates laser cut....See attached picture. First 10 sets are at the machinist - the other 10 sets (in pic) are at my place..... STILL awaiting the handbrake prototype (from new supplier) to arrive, hopefully tomorrow. So, all being good, first 10 sets should be ready in about 2 weeks. Thanks all for your patience...it may seem simple, but co-ordinating things whilst holding down a job aint easy ! Warren Quote
