1974 Datsun 240Z.

 

 

I bought it to restore it but now have too many projects and no space, so i am listing it to see if a better home can be found.

 

 

I drove the car home on trade plates for about 5 Kms so thats all the info i have.

 

The car was sitting in a house for many years before i bought it, about 6 months ago.

 

I looked for ages to find one that was not a total rust bucket, original, and orange with black.

 

 

The choke does not work (no cable) so its hard to start, but once running and warmed up runs well.

 

 

The good:

 

    * Great colour, i think best for these cars

    * I think mostly original, but i am not a nissan expert

    * Can be driven after warmed up, but bad brakes so dont advise driving it home. (i do drive it up and down the court, about 100M)

    * If you want an original 74 model to restore this is a good base

    * Has AC (not working) and Auto, shifts well.

    * Motor not smokey, oil in motor ok, water in radiator ok.

 

The Bad:

 

    * No Choke cable, ring geat slips sometimes, has gunk in one carby, so misses if you open the throttle too quick, but ok if you open it slowly

    * Brakes bad, i drove it home, the brakes went as i got in the driveway, and bumped the front of the bonnet and bit underneath at the front. (where the little driving lights are)

    * Rusty....as its an original un-restored car, there is plenty of rust, in the sills, and the inside rear bits where the hatch goes. Pls look at the photos.

 

 

The photos as part of the description, being sold as is, where is, bring your own battery to drive onto trailer, or if game, can drive short distance home with permit.

 

If it does not sell, i will just keep it until the time is there to play with it..Not desparate to sell it.

Seller Description:

 

Datsun 260Z 2+2, L26 Auto with rebuilt Gas head, so runs well on unleaded, and gas if you want to go that direction, fitted with Holley 350 carb. A very striking metallic purple paint job once graced the skin of this car, included with the purchase is about 2-3 litres of the very same purple paint so you can keep the retro look. The steering wheel is also painted the same colour. There is a spare dash that has been partly restored just needs finishing and painting, the idea was to colour code most of the car. There are lots of parts included, centre console, gauges.. and there is also an L28 motor from a Nissan patrol complete with flywheel and clutch that is available separately and will be made available to the winning bidder at extra cost, it is the desirable stronger block and the head on the car is the larger valve type. A lot of bodywork has already been done to correct previous botch jobs but there is still a bit to do. Best way to see is for yourself so if you are serious send me a message and you can come have a look, I wouldn’t buy a car without seeing it first.
