theremm Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Wondering if anyone had a 240z / 260z choke cable spare at all? Wanting to make up a choke cable for a set of triple solexes however would like to keep my original cable for the twin SU's intact. Mine is a '73 240z. Quote
Enzo Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Hi mate, You really don't need choke cables set up because the carbs have pump jets. Couple of pumps on the accelerator pedal and it should start. It will probably be a bit hesitant till it warms up a bit but better than fouling the plugs with the chokes on too long. Looks neater without the extra cables as well. David. Quote
theremm Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 Hi David, I had tried that actually - anything from 1 to 4 pumps, sometimes with the foot on the pedal when cranking. Still having difficulties starting the triples on first go. Sometimes it takes many attempts which can be a little embarrassing in parking lots with lots of people around.. Was hoping the choke cable might fix this. From what i've read triples usually start quite nicely? Quote
Enzo Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Hello again, I would take the time to correctly have the carbs tuned instead of wasting time with choke cables. If the carbs are jetted correctly it should just take a couple of pumps to start the car. I ran triple Dellorto's on my engine years ago and had no trouble starting the car because I spent time with correct tuning. If this is something that you cannot do I would find someone local who has experience with triples. Good luck. David Quote
theremm Posted May 1, 2020 Author Posted May 1, 2020 Ok thanks David. I'll give them a proper tune and balance again this weekend just to make sure everything is setup correctly. Hopefully that takes care of things. Quote
