I think this must be the stupidist question i have ever put on this forum but her goes.

 

Is anyone else out there running Triple Dellortos and an Automatic transmission? I have been learning a lot about the progression phase of the Dellorto equipped engine band and as you may know one can often miss this phase with a manual transmission as it cuts out around 2500 RPM.

 

Now with an auto it is not possible to miss this phase and often the gear changes can drop back right in the middle of a progression phase when just cruzin around town. This has caused me to spend a lot of time tuning and now the Dellortos are nearly 100% compared to when i first installed them.

I was also wondering if anyone else has had problems with hesitation in there triples down lower in the rev range.

 

There was always the option of fitting a smaller torque convertor. Again any opinions or advice are most welcome.

Yep was running l24 + auto + emission dellortos. I know where you are coming from.

 

Nice idea to pull in a smaller torque converter. Probably cheaper than trying to modify the dastardly factory cast progression holes on an emission based dellorto. The more research I have done into the dellortos i have, the more i hate them ( and by them i mean my own dellortos ) with a passion.

 

I'll file away that idea of lowering the stall speed on the auto if you dont mind me stealing your ideas.

If your idle jets are undersized and you have tuned the carbs to idle nicely by opening up your idle mixture screws too much I believe you won't have enough fuel through the idle jets when you go into the transition phase as the idle jets provide fuel for this also (obvioulsy pump jets have to do their job also). Also if you have used throttle adjustmenst to provide nice idle by drawing additional fuel off the mains it may leave you with a flat spot when you go thump it just over 2500rpm. I am just going by what I have read and understood as I have avoided this problem when setting mine up.
