mrp69 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 hey guys car is engineered in VIC but will need it re engineered in sydney to get NSW rego who can you recommend to do this?? Thanks Heaps Peter Quote
zedls1 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Hi Peter, when i bought my 73 zed from Sydney, it was engineered and registered in NSW. I got a roadworthy done back in Melbourne and made an appointment with Vic roads to do the transfer over to me. Should be the same if it's still registered and all the engineering doc's are there. You should check with NSW RTA, they may want to view the car. John Quote

George Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 warning, pdf link http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi_15_-_engineering_signatories_apr_2008.pdf i recommend Phil Scott Quote
zed240au Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 i was told down here on the big island (tasmania) that when you get car engineered they supply modification plate which is valid in all states of australia mick Quote
George Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 valid as in you can drive it there but registering it in other states will require complience to that states laws. it's a shame we don't have a federal scheme for these things. Quote
PeterAllen Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 It has been my experience that the best way to obtain the correct information is to ask those with the authority in the area. Phone the RTA and ask. As of February 2006 all States are adopting the National Code of Practice: Light Vehicles VSB 14 - see DOTARS web site. To my knowledge NSW is not yet onboard but intends to do so shortly. As I understand it, all new certifications now should comply with this Code, so you may not be able to roll-over your Vic certification unless it's at VSB 14 standard. Also the States only accept certification from the engineers on each State's register. Again I recommend you get it from the horse's mouth. It's also a good idea to shop around for quotes from the engineers. Many are making good money from heavy vehicles and aren't interested in touching light vehicles, so it can be difficult to get them to even provide a quotation or if they do it can be way over the top. Hope this helps. PS. Always consult with the engineer BEFORE you do the mods, it can save you time and money. Quote
mrp69 Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 just got off the phone with the rta i do not have to engineer the car in NSW cause the car has VIC rego. all i require is a blue slip and my green slip and what eva rego will cost. Peter Quote
PeterAllen Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Excellent news. Glad you could rollover your Vic certification. You've got no idea how many headaches you have saved yourself. My ground-up build is going to be a bit more problematic. Quote
