I'm just going to prefix this and say replacements lids are available here:

http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/6337398

There was an attempt to make reproduction whole trays - but as you can see they look like a dogs breakfast. See here and here.

First up is:

Ashtray #1

ash-1a.jpg

ash-1b.jpg

ash-1c.jpg

This ashtray has broken (quite cleanly) between the top cover part and the lower part. If you have a repair method in mind, I'd say this would be a good ashtray since you can hardly tell when you put them together. As hopefully the photos show.

Asking price: $85 + postage.

Ashtray #2

This ashtray has been previously repaired in the top right corner. It's a very minor crack. Which could use a better adhesive to fix it and neaten it up. The gunk on it is from a vinyl glue which was on it. It does come off.

Asking price: $150 + postage.

Ashtray #3

Hopefully the photos do all the talking, cracked shell and lid. It could be repaired, but will require a bit of skill with a dremel I think.

Asking price: $50 + postage.

This has already been repaired, the left hand side has a minor crack. The lid spring is with it, but it's broken a bit (so short) and will need replacing anyway.

Price: $170 + postage

Ashtray #5

The gem LOL, no really quite rough.

It's got some metal plate "riveted" on it, which is sort of holding it together. Good for spares I guess?

I'm guessing for what it's worth, it's not worth a trip to the post office. Humor me with an offer? Or maybe you've got something equally broken to trade?

May accept a spare lid spring in exchange :P (I'm missing 1).

Price: $offers

I'll give it another few days, then I'll consider listing on eBay.

If no interest I might try repair a couple and see how they turn out.

Still got these, quick bump for them.

I saw some ashtray spares sell for $40 USD recently (chrome ring, ashtray metal parts etc..).. so these have got to be worth something to someone.

what are the "reproduction" phots? did you make them

No I didn't make them. They were done by Jay Ataka of JDM car parts.

  • Reproduction Fuse box cover / Ash Tray for Datsun 240Z Series 1 1969-8/1971
  • This product was made to help customers with "hard-to-find expensive original ash tray".
  • This item does NOT function as actual ash tray as it is made of plastic. LOL..
  • It does not come with chrome ring around cigarette lighter opening
  • It does not come with ash tray hardware including spring loaded mechanism
  • This is an alternative product for those of you do not wish to spend over $500 for an used original ash tray in the market today. If you are very particular about originality of your car, this item is NOT for you.
  • These are made of fiber glass
  • *Original one was made of bakelite material.

If you see a combination of parts you want make an offer.

Ashtray bits sold for around $40 AUD on eBay here recently.

I prefer not to remove the chrome rings on these too often as the little tabs break from old age...

Also honestly #4 is excellent really the repair is ok, but from the top side you cannot see any cracks or damage, if you re-chrome the trim ring it will look as good as a $400-$500 original.

#2 is also very good with a clean up and the crack could be better repaired.

I've seen similar sell for $250 USD on eBay US.

If there is no interest here I'll advertise there.
