elcarter Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Hi, Wondering if anyone has the dimensions for the commonly sourced conversion brackets? I have the ability to laser cut and bend them but might not be cost effective if I'm not close or spot on the first time. Certainly open to run more than one set for other parties. I think the tighter look will suit my build and what to get this kind of sorted before I send the bumpers of for chrome. Cheers, Quote
GongZ Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Hi elcarter, I think you need to supply more information about what you are asking, i.e.; - Do you mean the front bumper, rear bumper or both? I note that your car is a 260Z 2+2 - so we know that you need to use the appropriate rear bumper and brackets. The only bumper conversion brackets I have heard of are those used to convert a US 260Z or 280Z from the bulky impact-absorbing bumpers (where each mounting assembly includes a shock absorber) to the 240Z bumpers with simple steel brackets, eg.: MSA listing for front 'Bumper Conversion Brackets' - http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a01i/32-1059 You should read this topic, which includes a dimensioned drawing of the standard (Australian market) bumper brackets supplied by Sirpent; "Modified 240z front bumper brackets to fit a 260z" http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/7007-modified-240z-front-bumper-brackets-to-fit-a-260z/ Let me know if this what you are after, or if l have misunderstood you. elcarter Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 Hi Gong, I did read that thread on my search but it only had the front brackets. Have gone though and had another look at my parts and found the original rear brackets. I found a link that had adjustable versions but can't seem to find them now. As my z is the early 260z it's not a mod from the large 280z style. Just wanted to get the OEM gap between body and bumper smaller. To be honest now that I found the original brackets it's not nearly as far away form the body as I had remembered. Now I've looked at the condition of my originals I am considering if I look a some of the carbon options... Quote
Agno Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 No Australian delivered (or any RHD) 240Z/260Z will need conversion brackets as all S30s had the same bumper design. Quote
elcarter Posted December 2, 2016 Author Posted December 2, 2016 Appears to be the case. I guess after 9 years you forget what the car used to look like. I wish I lived in Japan or the U/S - the parts for these are readily available and fairly affordable. Quote
