max wheel width 260Z

Hi all,

 

I have some questions for those in the know about wheels, offsets etc. I have a 260z 2 seater. I have some second hand simmons v4 wheels with no tyres, they are all 16" rims the rears are 8.5" wide with 114mm backspace and the fronts 8.0" with 105mm backspace. I suppose my question is does anyone out there have these size rims and backspace running standard gaurds? I need to fit tyres to these rims and concerned that i may not get tyres thin enough to ensure no gaurd rub. What the the narrowist tyre you can run on these size rims? I read somewhere in the forums that the maximum recommended backspace for rims on a 260z is 114mm, is this the same for front and rear?

Well I have Simmons wheels but 17" x 8 all round with 225 tires. It depends if you have coilovers or not if the tires are going to clear the suspension. I used to have 15x8's on a 260 2 seater with standard springs and I had to lip the guards on the rear. I'll have to measure the offset on mine to give you a better guide. You should be able to fit 225's on the 8.5" rim without issues.
