bebes2k Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 (edited) Car sold locally although I would have preferred to sell to a user here to ensure it was kept in original condition. Model: 1976 260z 2+2 Location: Karratha (Northwest WA) Price: $10,000 Item Condition: Good Body: Rust in lower quarter panels, Blue 305 on White interior Mechanical: Running well Registration: Currently registered as a historical vehicle I have a 1976 260z 2+2 for sale that I have owned for 5 years and brought over from rural Victoria to Perth and is now located in Karratha. I have only put around 1k kms on the car in that time so I hope the next owner will be able to enjoy and drive it more than I have. I was attracted to the car because it was a good driver with previous owners who loved the car and kept good records. It is in completely stock condition as close to all original as it could be down the original 8 track stereo. I have a document that details prior owners including the original owner who had it in the family for 24 years. It was then sold to an enthusiast who was very proud of the car and drove it in classic car rallies in Victoria, he held onto the car until he passed away. I purchased it from his mate in 2011. It has the original owners manual and warranty documentation and they even tracked down the transport ship the car arrived on from Japan. I will describe this as best I can as I realise most people won't be able to view this car based on where I live. I have owned close to 10 z cars from 71 to 83 so I know the cars well and where to look for rust. When I bought the car there were no obvious signs of rust and had a reasonable paint job. The car has had some bodywork done to it and an ok paint job probably from the late 90s and there is now some rust starting to show through in a few places. The doglegs on both quarter panels (will require patch panels), minor bubbles around a few chips near the fuel cap and an old repair on the LH front fender near the headlight bucket. There was minor accident damage to the front RH fender which was subsequently repaired albeit not very well. There are a few cracks on the dash which has a carpet instaled and there is one cracked seam on the drivers seat. All the interior is original with the exception of a new centre console as the original was beyond repair. The clock does not work but all other guages, switches and lights function normally. There is one rock chip in the windscreen. The floors are clean no rust, inner fender wells are clean, frame rails are clean, battery tray minor surface rust, rear hatch panel no rust, roof no rust so in general the unibody is in good shape. I have done some minor mechanical work to it; replaced clutch, clutch hydraulics, radiator re-cored, new water pump, thermostat and housings, hoses and have a new set of rear wheel cylinders on their way as one has recently become seized. The cylinder head was rebuilt prior to my ownership and had the following compression Front 1-180 PSI, 2-180 PSI, 3-170 PSI, 4-172 PSI, 5-172 PSI, 6-170 PSI Firewall when I purchased it in 2011. The car could probably use a tune to sync the carbs and the air conditioning needs to be re-gased. I had it re-gased a few years ago and it blew very cold although the seals on the charging port caused it to leak out. I have replaced them with r134a ports and valves although I have not yet re-gased it. Please call if you have any questions and I will obviously assist with transport at the buyers expense. Cheers, Bill. Edited August 23, 2016 by bebes2k Quote
Groundhog Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Some nice original features on this car and the documentation adds value IMO. The off- white diamond backed covering on the tunnel I have not see before and the Hitachi 8 Track is a nice option that you don't want to lose. Quote
kck Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Hi, just curious as to whether you received much interest on your datsun. We are in WA also in the central wheat-belt and have two datsun 260's. I advertised them previously on gumtree , had two expressions of interest , one had no idea and the other a foreign fraudster, so promptly removed the ads. Any other car sites in WA that you might recommend Cheers thanks Quote
timtim Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I think either posting to this forum or using gum tree there is quiet alot of responses now. Quote
