Megasquirt I Availibilty In Australia

Hi Guys n Gals

This may be the wrong area to post this but I figure it will get more noticed here in the general section,

I want to hear from people who have installed Megasquirt in their Z i would like to know where did you get it from. I have used the search function with the words megasquirt and couldnt find anything specific to australia, Im not particularly confident with soldering so i would like to get hold of a Megasquirt I v2.2  ECU and loom already assembled So my questions are as follows

 

1. Is there someone willing to order the kit from DIY Autotune and put it together for me then send it to me

 

2. Or is there somewhere i can purchase the assembled units in australia

 

3. Or is there someone who has a MS1 V2.2 they are not using and would be willing to sell

do you know how to program the megasquirt and tune the car? Like really tune it properly, not just hope to figure it out and cross your fingers that it'll tune itself?

If your not tuning it, who is going to tune it? and what system do they use?
The megasquirts have a few quirks to them that are unique and some tuners wont even touch them.
Its not really a 'cheap' solution, because once you cost it all out, get it tuned, fiddle with everything, all the custom work ect, you can pick up a mainstream aftermarket ECU (secondhand) for a little bit more cash. the support alone usually makes it worthwile, not to mention that its a LOT more likely to find tunes from similar builds, making it a lot easier to initially set up.

I had a megasquirt on mine, ended up ditching it because it was a pain in the ass.

Best advice i can give you though, whatever ECU you go with, try to make sure it'll connect via USB to windows XP/Vista/7 or later, even if it has to be through a USB to RS232 serial converter. actually find a working example, not just someone who says it should work.
Old legacy computers with dedicated serial ports are getting REAL hard to find, and real hard to keep running. there is no driver or software support, Windows XP is no longer supported.
I have a couple of old Haltech E6X ECU's that im going to sell off cheap one day, simply because i no longer have the tech or operating systems capable of connecting to them.

Why have you selected an MS1 with V2.2 board? The V2.2 board is out dated and not recommended for new installations. Go with a V3.0 board even if you still want the MS1 processor. The RPM input conditioning is improved, there are more and stronger outputs, with peak and hold option for the injectors if using low-z injectors, among many other improvements. I'd also look at goog to the MS2 straight away as it has more features and is still quite current. The MS1 it's no longer being developed, while the MS2 is just getting to that point, but has a lot more processing power and abilities.

 

You can also order the boards pre-assembled from DIYAutotune if you don't want too do that yourself.
