Popeye - The 1923 Datsun 240Z Nissan Dodge Bucket Roadster Pickup

This is a hot rod based on a 1923 Dodge pick up and using 240z running gear.

According to the ad - "This vehicle was fabricated by a Nissan dealer for shows back in 1974 to promote their business".

It appears to have an L-series motor with triple Webers, what I assume to be a 240Z Jatco 3-speed automatic gearbox and the complete 240Z rear end (suspension, diff and brakes). It even has a Z badge on the radiator surround.

 

It looks good for a rod built over 40 years ago.

 

I am not sure why the ad refers to a "1974 240Z" and a "2-speed automatic", but I think its a pretty cool car.

Looks more like a Ford Model T AKA "T-Bucket" body to me than a Dodge body. The cowl, is more Ford like than Dodge, the body shape and short bed is very typical of T-bucket bodies.

The cowls are completely different between the two.
