GongZ Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) This is a hot rod based on a 1923 Dodge pick up and using 240z running gear. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/datsun/240z/1765550.html According to the ad - "This vehicle was fabricated by a Nissan dealer for shows back in 1974 to promote their business". It appears to have an L-series motor with triple Webers, what I assume to be a 240Z Jatco 3-speed automatic gearbox and the complete 240Z rear end (suspension, diff and brakes). It even has a Z badge on the radiator surround. It looks good for a rod built over 40 years ago. I am not sure why the ad refers to a "1974 240Z" and a "2-speed automatic", but I think its a pretty cool car. This video shows it being started up and idling - Edited August 22, 2015 by GongZ Quote

Six_Shooter Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) Looks more like a Ford Model T AKA "T-Bucket" body to me than a Dodge body. The cowl, is more Ford like than Dodge, the body shape and short bed is very typical of T-bucket bodies. Edited August 23, 2015 by Six_Shooter Quote
GongZ Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 It looks like this one to me; http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2010/01/08/hemmings-find-of-the-day-1923-dodge-rpu-from-the-lively-set/ Quote
Six_Shooter Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 The cowls are completely different between the two. Source: I have a 1923 T-bucket Hot Rod... well, My grandfather does (was my uncle's, his son), but I've done a lot of work on it, both when my uncle was still alive and since. Quote
