Classicman Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I have just ordered parts from the Z store in America. They didn't have handbrake boots for RHD cars, so I went to a local trimmer as he was already repairing some seats for me. I wasn't happy with the first attempt as the vinyl wasn't a good match and he didn't follow the pattern 100%. He has now sourced 2 vinyls that are very close to original and had to buy 1m of each. I will be checking the vinyl for compatibility by mid next week, and he will then make me a new boot. If he does a good enough job and it mirrors the original, he will have some spare material left. I'm gauging interest to see if anyone else would be interested. He will be fitting the black press clips as well. Once done I will post photos and my opinion on the finished product. Suffice to say, I am a perfectionist and a stickler for originality, so if its not to my standards, I won't be taking one nor posting them on this site. Am I reinventing the wheel here? Quote
reverendzed Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Maybe - The ones I have are perfect fit with press studs fitted and available in whatever colour, vinyl texture you are after - Cost around $65 for handbrake and gear shift boot set. Cheers, Rev Quote
aircobra Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 as in the ones you can sell or ones that you bought from somewhere? Quote
reverendzed Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 They are the ones I can order with other interior products Quote
GongZ Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 ...They didn't have handbrake boots for RHD cars... LHD cars have the handbrake lever on the same (right) side of the transmission tunnel as RHD cars. Why would the LHD Z store handbrake boots be different? Quote

Why would the LHD Z store handbrake boots be different? They're not. Same part for both RHD and LHD. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic08e01e/40-2521 Quote
GongZ Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 So Classicman, I guess the answer to your original question is; Yes - you are reinventing the wheel. :'( Quote

I didn't know that, just went on what they told me when I asked the question Anyway, I've committed now so can't back out as the trimmer has bought the material. I'll keep you posted..... Quote
