wally57 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Guys, Haven't been working on my zed for some time, but I have just got going again and I'm getting my car ready for paint. Can anyone suggest the brand of a good quality seam sealant that can be successfully painted over. Wally57 Quote
PeterAllen Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Sikafex 221, available at Bunnings, etc. Black or white, so get one that contrast with the colour of the shell so you can see where you are going. Apply Prepsol and then the sealant with a sealant gun. The trick is to get a 30-35mm wide brush and cut the bristles down to about 10-15mm length and then IN ONE STROKE brush the sealant into any gap whilst flattening in out. It doesn't have to be pretty, just effective. Quote
Dan260Z Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I used one I found at Supercheap: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Septone-Paint-Seam-Sealer-Grey-900g.aspx?pid=105766#Recommendations Appeared to work ok, had no issues, though I also considered using the sikaflex (or a polyurethane sealant/adhesive). wally57 Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Thanks guys. I'll go with Sikaflex as per Pete's suggestion. I have a problem even using the name Supercheap within 50 feet of my Zed. Wally 57 Quote
