Hey all,

I'm heading to Japan next week for a bit of snowboarding and of course a bit of a perve on their car scene.

I was just wondering if any AusZcar members have attended the JCCA New Year Meeting in Odaiba?

It is arguably the biggest meet for classic Japanese cars in the country.

I am more interested in their swap meet/flea market. I can't buy any wheels due to baggage size and limits but I can fit suspension arms, maybe a strut brace and a triple carb setup in my snowboard bag.

How are their prices? Is there anything in particular I should keep an eye out for? I am determined to buy a set of triple carbs while I'm there, either refurbished second hand solex/mikuni or brand new OERs while I'm in Osaka.

Any input would be great!

Cheers

The 'autojumble' / Flea Market section at the New Year Meeting is usually a bit hit-and-miss. It's not the main purpose of the event, and if there is any good stuff there it tends to get snapped up straight away (usually by other vendors/club members...).

Prices are generally high, and some vendors put silly prices on rare items in the knowledge that they are very likely to be taking them home again at the end of the show. The trade pitches can be good, but it depends who is there really.

So I'd advise you not to bank on finding what you are looking for there. In my opinion it's more of a social event than anything else.
