WogsRus Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 Ok so i have ritchened up front bank half turn and rear 1/4 turn, seams to pull a bit better too, a bit fluffy on light throttle, oh well just drive hard. I cheeked the timing mark, got piston to TDC and it is defiantly 0 deg on the crank and the marks. My car runs 17 deg Advance according to timing light, anything under 10 and it simply wont drive, coughs splatters etc. Does this mean my dizzy is out by a tooth? It does not appear to ping but its hard to hear over the exhaust? All that being said, the car pulls like a freight train and no more miss at this present time since ballast resistor has been fixed up. Quote
dazzed Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Hi, The bottom pictured plug is running leaner than the top plug. You should richen it up. A colour tune kit comes in handy for this. Also I noticed that you say you have trouble reving to 8000rpm. ( Bit of overkill for a street car). With a points distributor you may be experiencing point bounce as well with the higher revs. Combined with the leaner carb, it could be causing the miss. I would set the dissy to about 16 degrees BTDC with the vacuum disconnected and set all in timing no higher than 34 degrees. You will have to modify the dissy to limit mechanical advance for this. 16 degrees initial +18 degrees mechanical =34 degrees total. A reasonable starting point. David other way around , ballast resistor is bypassed on cranking sending 12volts to coil when running ballast is in constant use if you pull a wire off the ballast resistor the engine will stop, just had to say that Quote
