Can I buy a full rail repair section for my 260Z 2 seater? Rare Spares - US?

My floor is okay but the rails are stuffed.  Anybody used the Rare Spares rail repair and if so how long are they?  Do they replace front to back?  Someone had a go at mine years ago and the repair only went half way along.

Alternately I'm in Melbourne. Anyone out there supply and fit the whole LH/RH rail sections so that I can't tell it's been replaced? I don't want a bodgey job.

I've checked out a few US sites; but they have 2 floor pans. One up to 1974 1/2 and another after.  Which one?  I rang most of the Australian Z suppliers; but don't seem to have much luck on the repair section front.  The available under floor repair sections only cover half the rail.  I have rust in the whole under floor rail.

What are other people doing about rail repair?  Do I have to spend a fortune for getting one totally fabricated?

When mine was replaced it was only the half section welded in. I think Rob at ZWorx used to fabricate his own. I cannot imagine it being too expensive as it is a pretty simple construction.

Do the new ZWorx owners do body work?

I replied to your other mail with Rob's mobile number, see how that goes.

G'day

i own at 260z and i replaced my rails a few years ago. i am panel beater, you dont have to go to all the trouble and expence of getting rails shipped in from the states, you can just measure up the size of the rail, including the lip section thats welded to the floor, go to a steel supplier with those measurements and tell them what thickness of steel you want and they will sell you the length you require by the meter. this is what i did, i bought the appropraite size in galvernized channel. it cost me about $6 a meter. the only thing you will have to do once you have bought the appropriate size channel, is to bend the lip over.

i hope this helps, it saves you money.

cheers,

260Z's have longer underfloor support rails. They follow the contours of the floor. Z's had a lot of torsional rigidity problems so Nissan extended the rails in the 260z onwards. Would $1500 be too much to fabricate and instal 2 new support rails given they follow the contours of the floor?  Looks complex.
