NEED HELP compression rings "which on to the top"

I am ready to fit my rings to my piston and I need help. I have set of new Hastings Rings to fit and as they have two different compression rings one is lighter in colour the other is darker and has the dot to face up. The box says top and bottom but I can't find any other instruction and as they came out of the packet (my son helping me). Which one is which ?.  If anyone knows' I would love to know.

the dot goes to the top of the top ring.

make sure the ring gaps are at opposite sides on the piston when installed
