Scotty_Rah Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I have started restoring a 1975 260Z 2+2. It requires a lot of work and I'll be using this site to access the best information and advice i can get. I bought this from a well know Zed guy in Perth and he is a wealth of information. I plan to restore this car up as original as possible, with a few usual mods. but who knows.. my mind could change and that's all good. I'll post as many pics as possible. I'm currently at the stage of stripping paint and body fill from some well hidden repair area's which I'm keen to fix properly. My background - I have no trade or qualifications but I am extremely keen and sometimes that all it takes. I want to complete as much of the work on this car myself where possible. i feel this is all valuable experience, and i enjoy a challenge.. I am always open to suggestions and helpful info as to how i can go about doing restoration and it will be accepted with great appreciation. I hope you enjoy my posts and updates as they come along. Scotty_Rah Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 here are some pics of what I've done so far.. ive removed most of the parts topside and started striping paint with a wire brush to uncover what really lies beneath. beauty is really skin deep.. if you could ever have called this car beautiful. I started with the roof and passenger side door sill first and here is the result.. Quote
Scotty_Rah Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 about two weeks ago i removed the paint and filler from the rear of the car, only to reveal a rough patch job. not sure how to fix this up. should i replace the whole rear? Quote
Scotty_Rah Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 This is a few more weeks back when i did the Drivers side rear panel, I took off alot of body fill and revealed some nice dents and small panels that had been pop riveted on. Does anybody know if some panel beating will fix this sort of dent up or some other solution? Quote
CroS13 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Hey mate welcome to the forums! Its great to see another 2+2 getting built! helps to even out all the 2 seaters that are getting done! As for replacement panels, there are a few guys on here that can make them if needed. If i recall seeing a few days ago, Lurch advertised that he can make 2+2 doglegs if people require them, but they are made to order. I'm no panel beater so i cant comment if those dents can be easily beat out or not. perhaps someone else can chime in on that and the slam panel. Look in the parts and tools for sale, and technical sections, and probably get more views and response if you asked the questions in there too! Looking forward to updates, as i'm in the process of stripping down my bus too! Rudolf. Quote
