G'day, Mike here. I see a number of mates and fellow Z Car Club Q. Inc. members are also members and forum users so I thought it was about time I joined!  For those that don't know me, I bought my first '74 260 Z in 2002 to get a toe into motorsport. This car had a previous long hard life west of Mackay on dirt roads so had the structural integrity of a blancmange but it whetted my appetite for a more serious competition car and I went into a partnership with good friend Robin to build a pukka Tarmac Rally car.  So another early 260Z shell was acquired and the long build process commenced.  The original 260 become the running gear development mule and when the rally car was finished, the running bits were swapped over and development of the rally car commenced. We've done three Classic Adelaides and Targa Tas 2014 is planned. The car is also run in the Morgan Park Sprints, double entered, so it does plenty of competition miles.

The original 260Z was sold off and then I had a brief sojourn with a 2001 MX 5, but it failed to excite and delight and I never really bonded with it, so that was moved on too.  An empty space in the garage is never a good thing, and I had been casting around for another project. Another Zed had been nagging at the back of my mind. Its funny how these things happen, anyway, I got wind of a couple of project cars up for sale.  A common story. The fellow had an early '74 260 which was once his pride and joy.  He had completely stripped it and boxed it up, then handed over to someone too restore whilst he was working overseas.  A lot of money was transferred but unfortunately not much work other than a chemical strip and hand applied primer resulted. So, dejected with this, old mate bought another Zed, '76 260 sight unseen off eBay. This turned out to be not what it was meant to be either so that languished as an unfinished project too! To cut a long story short, he wanted get rid of it all as a job lot.  The '74 is a keeper but needs much work.  The '76 will be made a runner and moved on to fund the early 260.  I'm looking for a late 260 2 seater interior if anyone has some bits?  Cheers for now.  Mike.
