David 280zx Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hi All Just joined the forum, I have a project Datsun 2/1981 280zx 2+2 targa top. Specs.......... Red (with rust, I got that free with it) 3-speed auto (I know it kills the power but I'm not a manual fan, and yes I can them drive them just prefer not to) N/A 2.8L in-line 6 f/inj (nothing special there!) Red velour interior Targa top (more rust issues there) Power steer Air con etc... etc... Guess that's the main specs I should have joined sooner to be honest, I bought the car off a mate as I couldn't bear to see it deteriorate any more parked under a tree. The car needed/needs a lot of work, I have had it for 3 years or so, and working on it off and on, I have rebuilt the driveline (excluding diff) brakes/suspension/steering basically all the mechanicals. Now for the body work/rust repair, I'm very open to ideas/places to get replacements panels etc. I'm 26 and I guess since my first car was 1987 Nissan Pintara, I learnt a lot from that old bus as it was bought in run down condition and I worked on it a lot before I even had my learners permit, I guess I just have a thing for 80's cars. Moderators PB260Z Posted October 22, 2013 Moderators Posted October 22, 2013 Hi David Welcome to the forum, got any pics of the 280ZX ? You will find plenty of good advice and the occasional ribbing for having ZX ????. I too have a burgundy with red interior as a mechanical donor car in my workshop but it won't be going back on the road. Good luck Cheers Peter Quote
imackz Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Welcome Dave, There are more of us with 280zx's than you think, good luck with your project :-) Quote
David 280zx Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Some photos of my 280zx. They probably don't do all the effort of rebuilding and cleaning the mechanicals justice but size limitations for forum restrict me a little. Quote
David 280zx Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Some more pics, showing some body progress. Some rust around windscreen and the very cracked dash!! Quote
