David_Jeremiah_Bullfrog Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 For sale Datsun 260z 2+2 (1972) Has been garaged for the last 7 years. I got it out and started it last week, albeit F40 Black Widow alarm system installed - wiring needs to be sorted. F40 Alarm linked into installed AM central locking - needs re-wiring as currently not working. Work done in past to it prior to garaging inclues Engine reconditioned, Re-skinned dash, Twin British SU Carbies-reconditioned, other bibs and bobs. Usual rust is coming through on bonnett and some other areas. Structurally the car is ok , but feel free to come and inspect. Non standard aftermarket seats installed. Manual Transmission Some cracks on rear seat. Centreline style mags on car and comes with 4x alternative wheels (star shaped mags) Front Air Dam on car similar to Warren Gilbert's Blue Zed - also very similar metallic colour Could be a good parts car or if someone puts in the elbow grease, a good runner. I have kept it all this time with the intent to restore it to its former glory, but alas - with a mortgage and a wife, I am forced to face up to reality and abandon this pipe dream as I soon realize that I will never have the time or resources to get this done and can't hold the car any longer due to space its taking up. Wifey wants it gone Looking for around $3,400 AUD or near offer. Am happy for anyone local to inspect if they are interested and make me a resonable offer. Can send photos if you are interested. Let me know your email details. Thanks David Quote
David_Jeremiah_Bullfrog Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 The market ain't wot it used to be! Is anyone restoring these cars anymore? I expected more interest. Quote
dat2kman Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 You have it priced pretty fair, it's got a bit of fruit, it is a four seater, but you are preaching it to Z converts. Try it on Gumtree for a wider spread. Just be wary of the odd scammer, if in doubt, etc etc! As the 2 seaters become thinner on the ground the four seat jobbies will start to move. Hang in there! Oh, and welcome to a quietish Qld forum contingent! Even if it is for a short while! Quote
d3c0y Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 For a start you can't have 1972 2+2, they started in 1974 and they are always going to be harder to sell than 2 seater which are the sort after model. You don't have any pics of your car up, you haven't written where it's located or provided a phone number, so it's not that surprising you haven't had any interest. Quote

But typical me, i didn't see these important points, but, at least i have a reason! Quote
Scoota G Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I totally missed this one, do you have pictures? I bought an incomplete 2+2 for $400 and it looks like i'll make over $2000 on it. On a complete one you would make even more, just sayin. Quote
David_Jeremiah_Bullfrog Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 Thanks to both of you for your feedback. Much appreciated. I will make sure I advertise this properly in future. Currently, I am putting a kit through the twin HD8 SU's at the moment to replace the diaphragms and float shutoffs as they were perished and leaky. Will put photos and further detail for the sale when this is done and car is running well. David Quote
