G'day mate,

I don't know if these are the usual places but these are the places I have found rust on my z; top of the engine bay, below battery holder and around the bottom of the engine bay, bottom of the front guards, sills, bottoms of the door frames and around the hatch.

Well, that's the major rust areas on my car anyway, also check around the floor if you can.

Cheers,

Good advice from Rob.  Also be on the lookout around your fuel filler, this is a real problem with Zed's.  The hatch sill above your tail lights is also another area that loves to give way to cancer and of course remember that what looks solid may have a great chunk of bog holding it all together! but then you are looking at a car that is 30+ years old.  Good luck with your shopping.

Worst places in mine were the floorpans and just in front of the rear wheels on the bottom of the guards.  The bottom of the doors had a bit too.

Another place can be the leading edge of the bonnet.... Pretty much every panel on a zed will rust, apart from maybe the roof.  Usually on the lower extremities, IE door bottoms, floor, sills, bottoms of front guards....
