Six_Shooter Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Thought some of you might like to see my HPI Cup Racer with the 240Z body. This is a very accurate RC body. It even includes the off center divot in the rear valance, which gets hidden by the bumper, but it's there! I have had it for over a year, but just got around to painting the body last weekend. On to the pictures: Quote
Six_Shooter Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Alright try these one's: The first set really should be showing up, not sure why they wouldn't be. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted June 3, 2013 Moderators Posted June 3, 2013 I like the period wheels that come with the HPI kit... I bought a Tamiya 240Z body a few years ago and still haven't got around to painting it! Comes with some nice chrome bumpers and details..Very impressed with the quality of the Tamiya body; have to be as its Japanese too.. Quote
chris240 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Looks superb... Is the bonnet fixed ? ...(da hoood, is what you Canuckians may refer to that sheet metal upfront ) Quote
Six_Shooter Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 I haven't seen the Tamiya body in person, but comparing many online photos, the HPI body appears to be more accurate and is why I chose to go with the HPI kit over a kit that would use the Tamiya body. I have other wheels and tires for the car, but since HPI decided to use a rather oddball size on the Cup Racer, they don't fit well. I would have to trim the body in front of the front wheels more than I already have and would take away from the overall look. I may still do it anyway, since I'm getting some drift tires for this on Friday. The body is more or less a typical RC body, full outer shell that is more or less one piece. The tail light panel and the headlight buckets are separate pieces that get two sided taped/screwed onto the main part of the body, along with the chrome pieces. There have been some people that really detailed their Cup Racers, including one guy that did cut the hood out and made an RB looking "engine" detail under it. I have no interest in doing that with an RC, I use static models for that level of detail. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted June 3, 2013 Moderators Posted June 3, 2013 I'll take a pic of the Tamiya body that's still clear but I'll get my butt in gear and paint the thing and mount it on the car! Would love to find a zed body in 1/5 scale; have one in 1/10, 1/8 but the last one eludes me... Quote
