sam Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Does anyone know how to remove the tail light cluster in a 260? I have the restoration guide and it says they weren't designed to come out but it is possible but i just cant work it out. Sam Quote
maddos Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Pretty easy. After taking plastic cover off inside of boot you'll see about half a dozen 8 mm nuts. Take these off (easier with long socket) and then just pull light out to the rear. Is this what you mean? Quote
sam Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 That may work just for a 240? Because the 260 has the separate reverse light and it is attached to the other lights. i think i may have to take the back panel off and then maybe i can push them out. Where are the screws for this panel, apart from the plastic ones along the top? Before i do this, does anyone know if the light cluster is the same for a 2+2 as for a 2 seater because that is where the spare came from? Quote

The tail light lenses themselves are glued into the plastic housing and removing them is difficult and requires patience and care. Removing the tail lights themselves is actually rather straight forward as maddos above has mentioned. You just remove the rear interior panel and you should be able to see bolts to remove the "housing". 2+2 housings and tail lights are the same, it is the rear exterior panel on the 2+2 that is slightly wider and therefore different. I hope this makes sense. Quote
ZD44TT Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I did this a while back to give the rear end a good paint job. Don't recall it being difficult. The light assembly has about 7 or 8 small nuts/bolts that you need to undo to take it off........it's easy from there....be gentle on the seals. Quote
