Whoray Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Nut wanted for fifth gear to use as locknut. Locking section of nut had been damaged and nut was just starting to come loose and was rattling. Would prefer to have machined flat and add locknut. Quote
dat2kman Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 That isnt positive enough. Use the standard back nut, with the necked down section to lock into the groove. New ones should be obtainable from most gearbox/diff reconditioners. Ensure correct end floats are done. I tried the two nuts trick, didnt work, then two nuts drilled and lockwired, that worked, but bloidy hard to drill the lockwire holes. While at it, double roll pin your selector forks! Quote
Whoray Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Tried a few gearbox repairers and even Nissan don't have any in Australia. Quote
C.A.R. Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Ron, ask Les Collins if he has one. Failing that, try 'SW Motorsport' in Sydney. Quote
