CroS13 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Hey guys, quick question, my door cant be locked with the key on the drivers side, its due to a stiff latch, if i persist it can unlock with the key, but trying to lock it might end up in snapping the key in the barrel. I have unbolted the latch and disconnected the actuator rod from the bottom door handle, ive also managed to remove the top door latch (rear passenger door latch), removing the handle and jimmying out the mechanism from behind the panel. Ive also removed the key barrel from the door. The problem i have is it seems i cant physically get the latch out, as its still attached to the rods for the inner door lock pin, the bottom latch and the side latch, the rods seem to be installed with pressed studs that are not removable, i cant fathom why the hell they didn't use C clips or e clips to be able to remove all the arms. The window rail/channel is whats preventing me from removing it, everything gets jammed up, the manual says it can be done, but it doesn't mention a 2+2 which has 1 million more rods on it. Is it possible to remove the latch without removing the window and regulator? I was thinking grind off the pressed studs, remove the arms, but don;t know if i can get new studs with a c clip to re assemble it all. pics: any ideas? Rudolf. Quote
Scoota G Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 The window rail isn't removable?? Mine have 4 Nuts and the come straight out. Pretty sure i have a spare door lock set here that you can have for postage and a donation. Quote
CroS13 Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 I wont need a new latch, well i don't think i do. It all still works, its just that its very very stiff. If anything is the problem, it might actually be arm on the back of the key barrel. Im hoping i can remove the latch, soak it over night, and hopefully she will come loose. I was worried that if i remove the rail for window, it might either make the window drop, or put it out of alignment. I want to avoid this if i can, because ive once done the power window motor and regulator on my S15 Silvia door, and darn it the window rattles ever since, ive had the door skin off and on checking bolts about 10 times, no dice, annoys me to no end, hence why I'm a little apprehensive of removing the window and reg from the Dato. Maybe your right, i hope perhaps i can remove the bolts for the rail and slide the latch past it, ill give it a crack tomorrow! Rudolf. Quote
