53-681 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Hi Guys, I have this issue where after letting go of the throttle, the engine is running on choke. When I tap the throttle the engine starts idling properly again. When I'm accelerating again the choke kicks in (higher revs, that choke feel) What could the problem be??? Quote
nizm0zed Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 first step would be to make sure everything is moving freely, make sure the choke cables are adjusted properly and not binding up in the cable sheaths. Make sure the chokes move freely through their full range on the carbs without the cables connected. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 4, 2013 Moderators Posted March 4, 2013 Grab some WD40 and give the carby linkages a good lube..(the bits right on the side of the carby) Quote
53-681 Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Ahh yeah - I gave the throttle linkages some heavy machinery CRC stuff, but that didn't do the trick... Might do it all around the carby bits. The choke cable is as loose and responsive as it gets (just as if it's out of the factory LOL). It's not the cable... It only occurs when I'm idling after driving (any distance, any gear). I tap the gas pedal and give it a veeeerrryyyyyy tiny rev (to save fuel) and it idles normally. I can also feel the choke kick in when I accelerate - More force when driving. I fear I may destroy bits! What should I do!!! Quote
G Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Apologies for being late to this.. I was at a carb place in Thornbury today. He had a rebuilt flat-top su under the bench. He rebuilds them, so he'd probably have a good idea. http://www.thornburycarburettors.com.au Worth a call? Quote
